About Sean Tinney
Hi, I’m Sean, a former college soccer player turned college and club soccer coach. I’ve been involved with soccer for over 20 years and counting, including playing, teaching, and coaching. I’m the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Heidelberg University, an NCAA Division 3 program in Ohio. I love working with my student-athletes and enjoy the Division 3 and higher education landscapes.
My Soccer Playing Days
My family introduced me to soccer before I could walk, and by age four, I was playing in the local in-house league. By age ten, I played club soccer for Beadling Soccer Club and my school district’s travel teams.
I became a four-year letterman and two-year captain for my high school team, helping lead it to a district championship my senior season after the team’s first playoff berth in nine years.
After high school, I played college soccer at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania as a freshman starter. In my junior season at The Rock, I was one of two players to start all 19 games. Unfortunately, my senior season never happened due to the pandemic.
I still play soccer whenever and wherever I can. My love and passion for the sport led me to where I am today, coaching college and club soccer.

Coaching College Soccer
I started coaching college soccer as a Graduate Assistant Coach for Westminster College in Pennsylvania, an NCAA Division III school.
My 20 years of playing experience translates well into coaching — conveying my love for the game to my student-athletes is a fulfilling experience. I’ve learned so much about coaching, leadership, development, and college soccer.
My goal with Ball At Your Feet is to teach you everything I know — and more — about the sport, with an emphasis on college soccer. From the recruiting process to what it’s like to be a student-athlete, this website provides foundational information about soccer and unique insights into the college sporting world.
Welcome to Ball At Your Feet.
